Itinerary
Join us for this trail running journey deep into the heart of the Julian Alps, exploring one of Slovenia’s most dramatic and unspoilt mountain regions. From glacial valleys and powerful waterfalls to high alpine passes and crystal-clear lakes, this is a route rich in variety and wild beauty. We’re not here to race - this is about moving through the mountains together at an easy, sociable pace, staying in traditional mountain huts, sharing simple meals, and enjoying long, immersive days on the trail. Expect big climbs, expansive views, cold drinks in remote huts, and a fitting finale with a well-earned swim in Lake Bohinj, followed by a comfortable night in a hotel to round off the adventure. Along the way, you’ll be fully supported by an experienced crew who take care of the details, leaving you free to focus on the running, the scenery, and the shared experience. For convenience, your trip will commence and conclude at lake Bled, we will be leaving all main luggage in Bled, and continue with our smaller run packs, so you can enjoy running lightweight. For reference, lake Bled is only a 25 minute journey from Ljubljana airport.
Day 1
Arrive in Bled - Begin adventure into the Mountains - 10km +400m
We’ll meet at midday in Bled before a short transfer to Mojstrana, the start of our adventure. From here, we run gently up the valley toward the mountains, passing a spectacular waterfall, lush forest, and towering peaks - a dramatic introduction to the Julian Alps. The trail climbs steadily through woodland and open valley, gradually leaving the road behind as the mountains close in. By late-afternoon, we arrive at our first mountain hut beneath the iconic north face of Triglav. The rest of the day is for settling in, enjoying the atmosphere, and sharing our first alpine evening together - with an early night and a good sleep ahead of our biggest climbing day tomorrow.

Day 2
Run from Hut 1 to Hut 2 - Julian Alps - 14km +1800m
Today we head properly up high. Leaving the valley behind, the route tackles a series of big climbs into the heart of the mountains. The terrain becomes more rugged and remote, with wide, dramatic views opening up as we gain height. The sustained ascents make this a challenging but deeply rewarding day, taken at a steady, supportive pace with plenty of pauses to refuel, regroup, and soak up the scenery. We finish at a high mountain hut, perfectly positioned for sunset views across the Julian Alps. Cold drinks, warm food, and one of the best terraces of the trip make this a true highlight in the mountains.

Day 3
Run from Hut 2 to Hut 3 & Alpine Lakes - 18km +900m
With less climbing than yesterday, today we’re fully immersed in the high mountains. The route crosses wide alpine plateaus and passes some of the most beautiful lakes in the region - well worth the extra distance. The trail weaves between water, rock, and open mountain scenery, with another welcoming hut along the way for a relaxed lunch stop. By late afternoon, we reach our next mountain hut, set among broad alpine pastures - a peaceful place to rest, reflect, and enjoy our final night surrounded by peaks.
Day 4
Down the valley to Lake Bohinj & Hotel - 14km +200m
Our final mountain day is a long, beautiful descent back toward civilisation. The trail drops steadily into the valley, opening out into forests and meadows before reaching the shores of Lake Bohinj. We finish with a well-earned swim, lakeside food, and a celebration of four unforgettable days moving through Slovenia’s wild heart. Tonight, we stay in a nearby hotel - a welcome touch of comfort after three nights in the huts.
Day 5
Breakfast, Swim, Return to Lake Bled and Goodbyes
After breakfast, for those who want to stretch the legs one last time, there’s the option of a gentle jog around the lake, followed by a final, refreshing swim in the clear waters of Bohinj. Then it’s time for goodbyes - an easy, relaxed ending to an incredible mountain adventure shared together. Your Run Weekend will officially come to a close at 1pm, back at lake Bled to collect your main luggage. We will provide transport from 11am back to lake Bled (we are putting on one transfer at 11am, if you choose to stay on at lake Bohinj you will need to make your own way back to lake Bled).
