Join us for an unforgettable trail running adventure in the heart of Latvia, where fairytale forests, winding river valleys, and medieval towns create the perfect backdrop for an epic weekend on the trails. We’ll begin in Riga, one of Europe’s most beautiful and underrated capitals, with a relaxed city run to shake out the travel legs before heading into the wild landscapes of Gauja National Park. Based in the charming town of Sigulda, we’ll explore flowing forest trails, sandstone cliffs, castle ruins, and panoramic river viewpoints, running as a supportive group and soaking up the scenery along the way. This trip is about more than just the miles. Think post-run spa time, cosy hotels, hearty local food, and evenings spent sharing stories over dinner. We’ll also visit the historic town of Cēsis for a stunning trail day through rolling woodland and river valleys before returning to Riga. Expect varied trails, manageable elevation, and a welcoming, inclusive pace, perfect for runners who love adventure, nature, and discovering new corners of Europe on foot. Beautiful trails. Day 1
Welcome to Latvia - 8km City Run
Welcome to Latvia! We’ll meet at our hotel in Riga from 4pm onwards. Once everyone has arrived and checked in, we’ll gather for a short welcome briefing at around 5.30pm before heading out for our first run together. This relaxed 8 km run is the perfect way to shake off travel legs while exploring some of Riga’s highlights. We’ll run past historic streets, scenic parks, and along the river, giving you a great first feel for Latvia’s vibrant capital. We’ll finish back at the hotel with time to freshen up before heading out for a traditional Latvian dinner together, a chance to get to know the group and ease into the weekend ahead. Arriving later in the day? No problem at all, you’re welcome to join us anytime. You might miss the run, but we’ll see you at dinner.

Day 2
Sigulda Trails & Spa Afternoon - 10km
After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel and take a short walk to the station for our one-hour train journey to Sigulda, the gateway to Gauja National Park. From the station, it’s just a 5-minute walk to our hotel. We’ll leave our bags and head straight out for a 10 km run, starting at around 11:30am. This relaxed run will loop mainly around the town of Sigulda, with chances to spot historic castles and soak up some of the area’s rich history along the way. Back at the hotel, we’ll enjoy a late lunch before spending the afternoon relaxing in the hotel’s spa facilities, the perfect reward after a morning on the trails. In the evening, we’ll keep things easy with dinner at the hotel, giving everyone time to unwind and recharge for the bigger days ahead.

Day 3
Gauja River Trails - 25km 900m
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll prepare our packed lunches before heading straight out from Hotel Sigulda for today’s run. We’ll complete a 25 km loop with around 900 m of elevation, following beautiful trails through Gauja National Park. The route winds alongside the river, through pine forests and past sandstone cliffs, with constant changes in scenery and plenty of viewpoints along the way. We’ll keep the pace steady and inclusive as always, staying together as a group and stopping regularly for photos, snacks, and lunch. Back at the hotel, it’s time to relax and recover using the hotel´s spa facilities before heading into town for dinner at a local restaurant. A classic trail day in one of Latvia’s most scenic landscapes.

Day 4
Down the valley to Lake Bohinj & Hotel - 14km +200m
After breakfast and making our lunch, we’ll check out and transfer about 40 minutes to Cēsis, a charming medieval town in the heart of Gauja National Park. We’ll leave our luggage at Hotel Cēsis before setting out for today’s 20 km run. The route winds through lush forests, rolling hills, and along the Gauja River, passing quiet valleys, sandstone cliffs, and panoramic viewpoints along the way. The trail is varied but manageable, with plenty of opportunities to pause for photos, enjoy the scenery, and soak up the peaceful surroundings .Back at the hotel, there’s time to freshen up and relax before we head out for our final group dinner, celebrating a weekend of beautiful trails and great company.

Day 5
Breakfast, Swim, Return to Lake Bled and Goodbyes
After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel and take a short 10-minute walk to the train station for our two-hour journey back to Riga. We’ll arrive around midday (exact time to be confirmed), giving you the choice to either make your own way to the airport or spend some extra time exploring the city. Riga, Latvia’s vibrant capital, is known for its charming cobbled streets, colourful Art Nouveau architecture, and lively markets. Stroll along the Daugava River, enjoy a coffee in one of the historic cafés, or wander through the Old Town’s winding lanes before heading home. A perfect end to a weekend of stunning trails, forests, and rivers, leaving you with memories of Latvia’s beautiful landscapes and trails.

Getting to us
Meeting Point
Your Run Weekend will commence at midday in Bled (exact location shared in your welcome pack, we will also leave your main luggage here). Lake Bled is a well known spot and a short journey from the capital city of Ljubljana. Please plan to arrive in Bled earlier that day to allow for travel and a relaxed start. Once your travel is booked, email your arrival details to contact@runweekends.com.
Arrival & Departure Times
Please plan to arrive in Bled by midday The Run Weekend will conclude at 11 am after breakfast, following a gentle jog and final swim at Lake Bohinj. We recommend booking onward travel no earlier than 12:00. You’re welcome to extend your stay in the area at your own cost.
Getting to Bled, Slovenia
The most convenient airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, approximately 30 minutes from Bled by car or shuttle. Travel to and from the meeting point is not included and is the responsibility of each guest. Full meeting details and local travel tips will be provided in your welcome pack.
