Itinerary
Welcome to the Greek islands - a world of turquoise seas, whitewashed harbours, and sun-soaked coastal trails. Over 4 days and 3 nights we’ll journey from Athens to Hydra, Spetses, and Poros, discovering a different island landscape each day. Explore Hydra’s car-free stone streets and coastal paths, pine-lined roads and sweeping sea views on Spetses, and a scenic hill run on peaceful Poros. Our routes combine relaxed coastal running with plenty of time to swim, explore and enjoy the rhythm of island life. Accommodation is in comfortable island hotels and guesthouses, perfectly located for exploring lively ports and waterfront tavernas. This is not a race - it’s a social running adventure. We’ll run together at a relaxed pace, stopping for photos, coffee, swims, and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. Expect fresh Mediterranean food, ferry rides across sparkling seas, and evenings spent dining by the harbour as the sun sets. It’s the perfect blend of running, adventure, and Greek island culture.
Day 1
Arrival in Athens & Run on Hydra - 12km, 410m+
We’ll meet by the port in Athens at 09:00 for breakfast and a welcome brief, before heading to catch the morning ferry to the island of Hydra. The journey across the Saronic Gulf offers our first views of the islands and sets the tone for the adventure ahead. Hydra is famously car-free, with narrow stone streets, colourful harbour houses, and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. We will arrive there late morning, drop our bags in our hotel, change into running gear and head out for our first run - a 12 km route exploring Hydra’s coastal paths and viewpoints. We will stop for a lovely picnic lunch on the way in the shade of olive trees, getting our first taste of delicious greek food. This route offers beautiful views across the sparkling Aegean and a chance to discover the island beyond the harbour. In the evening we’ll enjoy our first group dinner at a waterfront taverna, watching fishing boats drift into the harbour as the sun sets.

Day 2
Spetses Island Day Trip - 15km, 250m+
Today we take a short ferry across to the neighbouring island of Spetses for a full day of running and exploring. There will be plenty of time for an early swim for those who fancy it, followed by coffee and pastries in Hydra’s harbour before catching the ferry. Once there, we’ll begin a beautiful 15 km run following quiet coastal roads and pine-lined trails with sweeping sea views. Along the way we’ll stop for plenty of water, snacks and photos. After the run there will be time to swim in the clear water, explore the harbour and have well earned lunch in the sun before catching the return ferry. Back on Hydra, we’ll enjoy a relaxed evening together with dinner at one of the island’s lovely harbour restaurants.

Day 3
Hydra Coastal Run & Ferry to Poros - 14km, 430m+ (& optional sunset run)
This morning begins with another relaxed island breakfast before we head out for a scenic coastal run exploring more of Hydra’s beautiful shoreline. Our 14 km route follows quiet paths and coastal roads with sweeping sea views, passing small coves and peaceful villages along the way. After the run we’ll stop at a secluded beach for a picnic lunch and a refreshing swim in the clear turquoise water before returning to the harbour to shower and check out of the hotel. Later in the afternoon we’ll catch a short ferry to the island of Poros, arriving in the early evening. After settling into our hotel, for those who want to stretch their legs, there will be time for a gentle sunset jog along the coast. We will then wander through the lively harbour town before enjoying a delicious dinner by the waterfront, looking across the channel to the Peloponnese.

Day 4
Poros Hill Run & Return to Athens - 18km, 450m+
Our final morning begins with a beautiful run exploring the pine-covered hills above Poros. This 18 km route climbs gradually away from the harbour through quiet roads and forested trails, rewarding us with sweeping views across the Saronic Gulf before looping back towards town. After returning to the hotel we’ll have time for showers, checkout, and a relaxed lunch together at a local Taverna. In the afternoon we’ll head to the port to catch the 15:00 ferry back to Athens, arriving around 16:00, marking the end of a memorable few days of island running, sea swims, and Greek adventure.
