Itinerary
Welcome to Mallorca. A rugged island of dramatic mountains, turquoise coasts, and charming villages. Join us for 5 days and 4 nights of trail running along the iconic GR221 “Dry Stone Route,” where ancient paths wind through olive groves, pine forests, and along dramatic cliff-top trails with sweeping sea views. We’ll run unforgettable routes (totalling around 65 km), each revealing a different side of the Tramuntana mountains: from the pine-scented peaks around Lluc, to the wild coastal paths above the Mediterranean. Accommodation is a mix of mountain refuges and a hotel in Palma, combining comfort, local character, and stunning surroundings. This is not a race, it’s trail running as a shared adventure. We’ll move as a group at a relaxed, social pace, stopping for photos and to soak in the views. Packed lunches fuel us on the trail, while dinners range from hearty mountain refuge meals to tapas feasts, offering a taste of Mallorca’s local flavours. Expect trail running with soul, a chance to explore, connect, and enjoy some of the most beautiful trails on the island. The weekend finishes back in Palma, with time to explore the city, enjoy a coffee by the sea, and reflect on an unforgettable week of running, scenery, and island adventure. You can leave luggage on day one and collect on the final day in Palma, but in between, you will carry everything in your backpack.
Day 1
Welcome to Mallorca - 5km
Arrive in Palma at any time during the day and settle into island life. We’ll meet at the hotel at 16:00, ready to head out for our first run at 16:30. It will be a relaxed 5km shake-out run around the city to stretch the travel legs and catch the first sea breeze. In the evening, we’ll head out for a group dinner at a local tapas spot. Good food, good wine, and a quick briefing for the days ahead. The perfect start to a long weekend of running and (hopefully) sunshine.

Day 2
The GR221 Begins: Pollença to Lluc - 18 km, +750m
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll prepare our packed lunches and take a bus (around an hour) to Pollença, where we will start Mallorca’s famous GR221 trail. From here, the adventure begins as we follow ancient mountain paths deep into the Tramuntana range. Today’s 18 km run takes us to rugged mountain vistas, a mix of rocky coastal trails, forested climbs, and quiet stone paths that have linked villages for centuries. We’ll take it steady, running as a group and stopping along the way for our picnic lunch. Our finish point is Lluc, a peaceful mountain setting surrounded by pine forests and home to the island’s historic monastery. We should arrive in time to grad a drink and some Spanish tortilla and look around the Sanctuary of Lluc and it´s botanical garden. Tonight’s stay is in a simple but cozy mountain lodge shared with other hikers and walkers. The perfect place to relax, refuel, and enjoy a hearty dinner after a rewarding day on the trail.

Day 3
Into the Heart of the Tramuntana - 15 km +850m
Today takes us deep into the wild heart of the Tramuntana mountains. After breakfast at Lluc and collecting our packed lunches, we’ll set off on a shorter but beautifully challenging run, leaving the pine forests behind as we climb into a remote and rugged landscape. The trail winds through oak woodland, limestone paths, and open mountain valleys, offering a real sense of isolation and adventure. Our destination is one of the most secluded refuges in Mallorca, surrounded by dramatic peaks and silence broken only by nature. After settling in, there’s an optional 6 km out-and-back run to a nearby summit for those with energy to spare. Alternatively, you can unwind at the refuge, relax by the fire, and enjoy a slower afternoon in this truly special setting. As evening falls, we’ll come together for a hearty dinner, sharing stories from the trails and soaking up the atmosphere of this remote mountain retreat, a highlight of the week for many.

Day 4
From the High Mountains to Soller: The Final GR221 Stretch - 19km +750m
Our final running day takes us from the remote refuge of Tossals Verds to the vibrant town of Sóller, offering a true taste of Tramuntana adventure. The first section is slow, technical, and exciting, with plenty of scrambling and some steeper climbs aided by chains. We’ll take our time here, moving carefully and enjoying the playful, hands-on nature of this rugged mountain terrain. As the route opens up, the trail becomes more runnable, leading us past a beautiful mountain lake before tipping into a long, flowing descent. The final kilometres wind through ancient olive groves, gradually delivering us into the postcard-perfect town of Sóller. We’ll have time in Sóller to grab food, explore the town, and soak up the atmosphere before hopping on the bus back to Palma. Back at the hotel, you’ll be reunited with your belongings and have time for a well-earned shower before we head out for our farewell evening, a relaxed night of great food, drinks, and shared stories as we celebrate an unforgettable running adventure in Mallorca.

Day 5
Coastal Run or Relax - Optional 8km
For your final morning in Mallorca you can enjoy a well-deserved lie-in or join the crew for one last short coastal run to soak up the sea views and the morning light. Afterward, we’ll gather for one final group breakfast together, sharing memories from the week and celebrating a great adventure. The trip officially wraps up after breakfast at around 11:00, but feel free to linger a little longer if you want to explore Palma at your own pace before heading off.
