Over 9 days, this small-group running adventure takes us deep into Pakistan's Karakoram and Himalayan ranges, through remote villages, alpine meadows and high mountain passes that see almost no outside visitors. Hosted by experienced local guides, we'll move together as a team, fuelled by hot chai and home-cooked Pakistani food, sleeping in simple mountain lodges and high-altitude camps along the way. Run through apricot orchards in the Hunza Valley, beneath some of the highest peaks on earth, and along glacier-fed rivers few runners ever see. This isn't a normal holiday - it's a serious, soulful expedition through one of the most welcoming corners of the world.

Itinerary
Welcome to northern Pakistan; a land of towering 8000-metre peaks, vast glaciers, turquoise lakes and valleys that feel untouched by time. For nine days, we run, hike and climb through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery on earth, standing beneath giants like Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi and moving through landscapes few runners ever experience. This is big terrain, high altitude and proper adventure. Some days you’ll run along pine-forest paths. Other days you’ll power-hike steep mountain trails as the gradient bites and the air thins.
We move as a team, fully supported by experienced local guides, with luggage transfers, camps prepared and logistics handled throughout. You focus on the effort. We take care of the rest. Expect jeep tracks carved into cliffs. Sunrise summit pushes. Suspension bridges high above roaring rivers. Camp fires under vast star-filled skies. Simple mountain lodges and alpine camping beneath colossal walls of rock and ice. The miles aren’t about pace, they’re about immersion. If you’re looking for comfort zones, this isn’t it! If you’re looking for one of the most unforgettable running adventures on the planet, then welcome to Pakistan! Please note: Due to the altitude and significant elevation gain, many sections of this Run Weekend will involve power-hiking and sustained uphill walking, particularly on steeper mountain terrain. This is a trail running adventure, not a race. We move as a team and adapt to conditions on the ground.
Day 1
Arrival in Islamabad - Capital Charms & Shakeout Run: 8km, 400m+
Welcome to Pakistan! On arrival at Islamabad International Airport, our in-country team will meet you and transfer you to your Hotel. After check-in, we’ll hold a short midday briefing to walk through the week ahead. For a hearty lunch, we head to a restaurant for bold Afghan flavours and generous portions. Afterwards, we visit the iconic Faisal Mosque before lacing up for our first run. An 8km shakeout through the Margalla Hills sets the tone: pine forest, and wide views over the city. A perfect first taste of what’s to come. We return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner at a local Pakistani restaurant. Rest up as we have an early start tomorrow!

Day 2
Skardu - Mountain Flight & Desert Trails: 5km, 100m+
An early transfer takes us to the airport for our 9am flight to Skardu. Widely considered one of the most spectacular flight routes in the world, this journey offers breathtaking views over the mighty Karakoram. Keep your camera ready! On arrival, our local team will welcome us and transfer us to Sehrish Guest House for lunch and check-in. In the afternoon, we head out for a 5km trail run from Kharpocho Fort, following the Indus River towards Nangsoq Organic Village. Small bridges, open valley terrain and big skies. The evening is yours to relax, enjoy dinner together, and soak in the mountain air. Tomorrow, the adventure continues deeper into Gilgit-Baltistan.

Day 3
Journey to Fairy Meadows: 6km, 650m+
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before we hit the road for a 4.5-hour drive along the legendary Karakoram Highway to Raikot Bridge, with a relaxed lunch stop along the way. From there, it’s into 4x4 jeeps for a high-energy climb up a spectacular mountain track, with dramatic views, dusty switchbacks and that unmistakable feeling that you’re heading somewhere truly special. Our 6km run climbs steadily through pine forest toward Fairy Meadows. Expect around two hours on the trail before emerging to sweeping views of Nanga Parbat. It’s steady climbing, but every step is worth it. A midway tea stop keeps spirits high before we arrive at our mountain lodge. After checking in there’s time to refresh, breathe in the mountain air and simply soak it all in. Dinner is served with a view, followed by an evening around the bonfire under a sky bursting with stars. Later, retreat to your cosy wooden cabin with the fireplace glowing and rest up in true mountain style.

Day 4
Nanga Parbat Base Camp: 20km, 1000m+
Today is a big one! We set out from Fairy Meadows toward Nanga Parbat Base Camp. The 20km route climbs gradually through alpine terrain before opening into vast glacier landscapes beneath the ninth highest mountain on earth. This is runnable in sections, hiked in others. We move steadily, stopping for tea, photos and breathers. A hearty lunch is served midway to refuel before we continue higher, crossing glacier terrain under the supervision of our experienced mountain guides. It’s demanding. It’s high altitude. And it’s unforgettable. Returning to the lodge, you can refresh with a hot shower, then settle in for a well-earned dinner that tastes even more delicious after a day on the trails. Spend the evening unwinding around the campfire, swapping stories and soaking in the magic.

Day 5
Fairy Meadows - Hunza & Eagle’s Nest: 6km, 100m+ & 6km, 700m+
Start the day with a hearty breakfast at the lodge before a stunning run back down to our starting point, where our jeeps await. The gentle descent gives plenty of time to soak in these stunning mountain surroundings one last time. We then board our bus for a scenic five-hour drive along the famous Karakoram Highway to the charming town of Karimabad. En route, we’ll stop for lunch, sampling traditional Northern Pakistani dishes such as meat dumplings, kebabs, and freshly baked bread, a perfect introduction to the region’s mountain cuisine, before continuing to the Hunza Valley. After settling into Eagle’s Nest, we head out on a 6km trail along the rugged Hosht Trail. This demanding yet spectacular route overlooks the Hunza Valley, with steep climbs, rocky paths, and sweeping mountain views, offering a challenging workout and a real sense of achievement. If you prefer, you can relax at the resort, enjoy the panoramic terrace views, or explore the nearby surroundings at your own pace. As evening falls, we visit the Eagle’s Nest viewpoint for sunset over Rakaposhi and the Hunza peaks. Later, we gather for a special evening: yak BBQ, local musicians, and a campfire under the starry sky.

Day 6
Rakaposhi Basecamp - Peaks, Glaciers and Alpine Views: 15km, 1670m+
After another great breakfast, we drive 1.5 hours to Minapin village. From here, we begin our climb toward Rakaposhi Base Camp via Hapakun Meadows where we will be camping. Today's route has some serious elevation. The lower sections are runnable. Higher up, it becomes a sustained power hike through alpine terrain with glacier views unfolding behind us. We pause regularly for snacks, tea and photos as the views expand behind us. We’ll reach Hapakun Meadows around midday, where a simple yet delicious lunch will be served. After lunch, the trek continues toward Rakaposhi Basecamp, gaining roughly 1,670 meters in elevation throughout the day. At Rakaposhi Basecamp, soak in breathtaking views of the Minapin Glacier and the towering surrounding peaks before descending back to our campsite. Our tents will be ready and waiting. No logistics stress! Just arrive, eat, rest. As night falls, gather around the bonfire for a cozy evening with warm drinks and traditional local dishes prepared in the kitchen tent, a truly unique experience and the perfect way to unwind after a full day in the mountains.

Day 7
Hussaini Bridge Loop Run: 9km, 380m+
After breakfast at the campsite, we’ll run back to Minapin, where our bus will be waiting to transfer us to Atabad. Sit back and enjoy the scenic two-hour drive, taking in the incredible mountain landscapes along the way. After checking into our hotel and having lunch, we’ll kick off an epic loop run starting from the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge. From here, we’ll cross the bridge and head out onto the rocky trails of the Zarabad Track, running through a lush green valley towards the charming village of Zarabad. This small agricultural village, located in Upper Hunza’s Gojal region near Passu and Hussaini, sits in a beautiful, fertile area at the base of the mountains, where locals grow crops using glacial water. It’s only accessible on foot via the 635 ft suspension bridge we’ve just crossed. After completing the loop, our bus will meet us back at the start and take us to the lodge for a well-deserved dinner.

Day 8
Attabad Lake & Bascochi Meadows: 4km + 500m
After breakfast we head out to the striking turquoise waters of Attabad Lake. Today’s adventure is a 4km climb (with approximately 500m elevation gain) up to Bascochi Meadows. The route is steep and rewarding, taking around two hours to reach the top and about 45 minutes to descend. As we gain height, panoramic views unfold across the lake and surrounding peaks. At the summit, there’s the option for a dramatic cliffside photo moment overlooking a 400-metre drop. After working up an appetite, we refuel at the iconic Yak Grill, famous for its yak burgers and hearty mountain dishes. If time allows, we’ll continue on to the surreal formations of the Passu Cones for some truly epic photos. After our adventures, our driver will pick us up as we begin our picturesque journey to Skardu, a captivating drive of approximately 6 hours. On arrival at our hotel, we check in and gather for a well-earned group dinner, and reflect on another unforgettable day in northern Pakistan.

Day 9
Marsur Rock Run: 4km, 500m+
It’s an early one today. At 5am, jeeps collect us directly from the hotel as we set out under the first light of dawn. A light snack breakfast keeps us fuelled on the way, and the early start means we beat the midday heat. Our destination is Marsur Rock, a dramatic viewpoint high above the valley. The climb is short but punchy, with big views unfolding as the sun rises over Skardu. Reaching the top feels epic! Vast landscapes, fresh mountain air, and that unbeatable sense of starting the day somewhere extraordinary. On the way back, we stop at a stunning restaurant overlooking Skardu Valley for a relaxed brunch with jaw-dropping views, the perfect reward after the climb. Back in Skardu, the afternoon is yours to unwind, pack for tomorrow’s flight to Islamabad, and enjoy some well-earned rest. In the evening, we gather for a final group meal just around the corner from our hotel, one last chance to celebrate an incredible adventure together.

Day 10
Departure Day - Farewells and Final Views
An early morning start awaits as we transfer to the airport for our 9am flight from Skardu back to Islamabad. One final glimpse of the mountains from the air is a fitting way to close this adventure. Arrival is around 10am. Those with onward flights can proceed directly to departures, while others may return into the city with the team depending on travel plans. Ten days. Countless climbs. Proper adventure. As we say our goodbyes, expect tired legs, full camera rolls, and stories that will last long after we land. Please note: Airport transfer is included. As with arrival, the team will ensure you are back at the airport in plenty of time for your onward flight, even if you are departing the following day.
