Itinerary
Welcome to Northumberland. A wild stretch of coastline where sweeping beaches, historic castles, and peaceful seaside villages sit beneath vast northern skies. Join us for 4 days and 3 nights of trail running along one of Britain’s most underrated coastlines, exploring quiet countryside trails, rugged coastal paths, and the famous tidal route to Holy Island.
We’ll run between historic landmarks including Bamburgh Castle, cross the causeway to Lindisfarne, and enjoy miles of open shoreline and sea views. Evenings are spent in cosy coastal cottages, with good food, great company, and time to relax in the sauna or hot tub after a day on the trails. Expect fresh sea air, unforgettable scenery, and a weekend of running and adventure.
Day 1
Welcome to Northumberland
Welcome to the wild Northumberland coast. We’ll meet you at the cottages at 15:00, where the team will give a relaxed briefing for the weekend ahead before we head out for a gentle warm-up run through the nearby countryside and quiet villages. It’s the perfect chance to shake out the travel legs, breathe in the fresh sea air, and get to know your fellow runners. Afterwards we’ll settle into the cottages for the evening, with dinner together and plenty of time to unwind. There’ll also be a chance to enjoy the hot tub, sauna, and a few drinks as the sun sets over the countryside. A wonderful and relaxed start to the weekend.

Day 2
Castles and Coastlines
Today is our first big running day, and it begins with a hearty breakfast. We’ll gather around 08:00 as the morning light rises over the North Sea before setting out along quiet countryside trails around Lucker and the surrounding villages. Our route leads us toward the spectacular Bamburgh Castle, standing proudly above miles of golden beach and rolling waves. From here we’ll follow the coastal path south to the charming fishing town of Seahouses, where lunch can only mean one thing: classic fish and chips by the sea. Refuelled and happy, we’ll continue our loop back to the cottages, arriving mid-afternoon with time to relax, warm up in the sauna, and share stories from the day. The evening will be cosy and relaxed, with homemade soup, warm drinks, and a chance to unwind together after a rewarding day on the trails.

Day 3
Holy Island Adventure
across quiet countryside tracks toward the tidal causeway that leads to Holy Island. Timing is everything here, and at low tide we’ll cross the causeway surrounded by vast skies and open sea, arriving on the island in the late morning. Our destination is the beautiful Lindisfarne Castle, perched dramatically above the shoreline. We’ll pause for coffee, soak in the coastal views, and keep an eye out for wildlife - seals are often spotted here, and dolphins occasionally appear offshore. After exploring the island, we’ll return to the mainland and later gather for a well-earned evening meal at the Apple Inn, an award-winning local pub. A hearty three-course dinner by the fire will be the perfect reward after a memorable day of running and adventure.

Day 4
Recovery and Relaxation
Our final morning begins gently with an optional recovery run through Northumberland’s peaceful villages and woodland paths - a chance to loosen the legs and enjoy the quiet beauty of the countryside one last time. Afterwards we’ll return to the cottages before heading to Beau Monde, Lucker’s award-winning spa, where two hours of relaxation awaits. Saunas, steam rooms, and warm pools provide the perfect way to recover after a weekend of running along this spectacular coastline. We’ll say our farewells at around 15:00, so please plan onward travel from then. We’ll be sad to see you go, but we’re sure you’ll leave refreshed, inspired, and already dreaming of the next adventure
