You’ll run 4 half marathon days, guided through each city. Run a total of 84km or simply skip a run and relax in the cities' spa. It's for every ability. Run some, or all of the distances, It's up to you. Expect morning runs through historic streets and riverside paths, afternoons soaking tired legs in three iconic European spas, and evenings fuelled by traditional local food and shared stories before making a dash for your next bed for the night - On the sleeper train.

Itinerary

Join us for an adventure of a lifetime. You'll be running adventure across Western and Central Europe, travelling between iconic historic cities by overnight sleeper train. This is a Run Weekend that captures the true spirit of adventure: fall asleep each night in a cosy cabin as the rails hum beneath you, and wake up each morning in an entirely new country. Across the journey, you’ll cover almost 100km: from the charming Dutch canals and countryside, to Prague’s winding cobblestone streets, the tranquil island trails of Budapest, and the river surfers of Munich. Each day you will fuel your runs with local delicacies and soak in the culture and minerals for the ultimate post-run relaxation. This Run Weekend is thoughtfully curated and fully supported. No airports, no packing and unpacking, just seamless travel, great company, and memorable runs! This trip is about movement in every sense: running through cities, gliding across borders while you sleep, and experiencing Europe in a completely unique way.

Day 1

Welcome to Amsterdam, Netherlands, Country 1 of 4. + 7km Run

Welcome to Amsterdam! Your Run Weekend begins at 17:00. If you arrive earlier, feel free to drop your bags at reception and spend the afternoon exploring the city’s charming canals or relaxing in the hotel’s wellness area - complete with a pool, sauna, and luxury amenities. We’ll officially kick things off on the hotel terrace with a briefing, followed by a short 7km sunset run to stretch the legs and warm up for an exciting week ahead. We’ll then fuel up on a hearty dinner overlooking the beautiful quay, then rest ahead of our first long run the following day.

Day 2

Amsterdam Canal Half Marathon - 21km +20m Elevation (Very Flat)

Overnight Sleeper Train, Amsterdam to Prague.

We’ll set off on our first scenic half marathon run along Amsterdam’s picturesque canals. Our route continues along the Amstel River, past historic landmarks, including one of Amsterdam’s most iconic windmills. We’ll pause for a riverside coffee break, then continue to our lunch stop in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, a charming 12th-century village on the riverbank. The return leg follows the opposite side of the Amstel, ending with well-earned drinks at a spectacular waterside restaurant. Back at the hotel, you can relax and freshen up at the spa before we head out for dinner and prepare to catch our first sleeper train across the continent. We’ll settle into our cabins and get plenty of rest ahead of tomorrow.

Day 3

Prague Historic Streets Half Marathon - 21km + 400m Elevation

Overnight Sleeper Train, Prague to Budapest.

We’ll spend the early parts of the morning fuelling up on breakfast platters and overlooking the beautiful European countryside as we approach Prague. Our run begins in the tranquil Franciscan Garden, a hidden oasis in the heart of Prague. From there, we’ll cross the river and pass several historic landmarks, including Prague Castle. You can expect a steady incline as we then ascend Petrin Hill for panoramic views across the city. We’ll stop for coffee at an iconic street food market overlooking Prague, surrounded by the city’s oldest vineyard, then enjoy a leisurely lunch at a traditional restaurant housed within a historic monastery. The afternoon run takes us past Gothic cathedrals, Baroque palaces, and the Old Town Hall with its famous astronomical clock. Afterward, unwind in the spa’s Finnish, herbal, and infrared saunas, plunge pools, and relaxation zones before dinner and our next overnight train.

Day 4

Budapest Danube Half Marathon - 21km + 300m Elevation

Overnight Sleeper Train, Budapest to Munich.

After travelling overnight from Prague to Budapest, we’ll be itching to get started in yet another iconic European capital city. Today’s run crosses the Danube River into the Buda Castle District, a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with history and stunning architecture. Highlights include Fishermen’s Bastion and Matthias Church, known for its colourful tiled roof and panoramic views across to the Hungarian Parliament building.

 

From Castle Hill, we’ll continue to Margaret Island, a peaceful green escape in the heart of the city, following the riverside running track past gardens, an Art Nouveau water tower, and the musical fountain. Our run concludes with a dip in a medieval Turkish bath where a rooftop thermal bath will await with incredible views over the city. Ahead of catching our next train, we will dine in the adjacent bistro for dinner before getting some well-earned rest on our way to ANOTHER country.

Day 5

Munich Bavarian Half Marathon - 21km + 200m Elevation

Overnight Sleeper Train, Munich to Amsterdam.

We’ll be greeted by the rising sun and quiet streets of Munich, where we’ll grab some breakfast and fuel up for our final run of the adventure. We’ll begin in the city’s historic heart where we’ll pass through the lively main square and admire the Neo-Gothic New Town Hall with its famous Glockenspiel Carillon. From there, the route flows seamlessly into the English Garden, an 18th-century park known for its vast woodland trails, tranquil lakes, and cultural landmarks like the Haus der Kunst contemporary museum. Along the way, we’ll pause to watch local surfers ride the Eisbachwelle, a continuous wave on the Eisbach River - one of Munich’s most unique sights. The final stretch takes us past the Bavarian State Library before returning to the historic center. Post-run, we’ll unwind at a luxury spa that offers a serene retreat high above the city skyline. Relax, recharge, and enjoy dinner from the hotel together before we board our final sleeper train.

Day 6

Completing the Loop - Back in Amsterdam & Farewell.

Back in Amsterdam, it’s time to say farewell! We’ll arrive in the morning giving you time to enjoy a relaxed breakfast or one last stroll along the canals before your journey home. Our aim is to have you back by 10:00 with the trip coming to a close at 11:00, allowing for smooth onward travel. For flight arrangements, please plan departures in the late afternoon and evening to allow for delays and ensure a comfortable connection. It’ll be tough goodbyes after the adventure of a lifetime, with plenty of stories to share from a unique Run Weekend.

Run Gear. Spare socks, swimwear and towel. Any bags or bottles etc you may want for the runs. You'll carry your run pack yourself. We'll leave your main suitcase in Amsterdam and travel with a smaller (20L to 40L) pack.

Getting to us

Meeting Point

Your Run Weekend will commence at 17:00 in Amsterdam. Upon booking you'll be given detail of your first nights accommodation in the city centre (along with the rest of your itinerary). The Run Weekends team will be waiting for you to arrive between 15:00 and 17:00. If you intend to arrive much earlier or later please just let us know.

Arrival & Departure Times

Please arrive between 15:00 - 17:00

Your Run Weekend will conclude at 11:00 back in Amsterdam. The Run Weekends team can help you arrange travel back to the airport if required. This is your responsibility.

Bag Information

Main Luggage: We will leave your main luggage at the hotel in Amsterdam and collect when we return on the final day.

Small Travel Bag: For your travel for 4 nights on the sleeper trains we recommend travelling with a 20L to 40L backpack to accommodate your basic toiletries and run pack.

Running Backpack: When we arrive in each new city we'll store your small backpack in a locker and run with a small run bag.

Getting to Amsterdam. 

There are a number of options to reach the city of Amsterdam (Please note these are suggestions only, we cannot guarantee travel routes).

From US - JFK, Chicago, Newark all fly direct also.

Important: Trip Confirmation

This trip operates with a maximum number of 16 guests and will be confirmed once a minimum number of 10 guests have booked. We will inform you once this number has been reached. If you wish to book travel in advance, please ensure your travel booking is fully refundable. We do not hold liability for loss of flights if this trip doesn't run. If the trip doesn't run your deposit along with any balance paid will be fully refunded.
