Itinerary

Welcome to the Blue Mountains, a vast wilderness of golden sandstone escarpments, deep eucalyptus-filled valleys, and waterfalls that tumble into ancient forest just a couple of hours west of Sydney. Join us for 4 nights of trail running based around the mountain town of Katoomba, moving point-to-point through some of the most dramatic scenery Australia has to offer. We'll run five stunning routes, each one revealing a different side of the range: the historic Six Foot Track winding deep into the bush, the clifftop Prince Henry Cliff Walk past famous lookouts and landmarks, and part of the iconic Mount Solitary Ultra route, with its fast trails, river crossings, rock scrambles and challenging climbs. Along the way you'll spend a night in a remote eco lodge, share meals around a communal table, and wake to breakfast overlooking the valley. Your main luggage is stored in Katoomba, so you only carry what you need. This is not a race, it's trail running as a journey. We'll move as a group at a steady, social pace, taking time to soak in the views, pause for photos, and enjoy long dinners together at the end of each day. Expect a real mix of terrain - steady paths, steep stairs, creek crossings and big climbs - rewarded throughout with sweeping views over the valleys. Please note: this trip includes significant elevation and some big days, so a good level of trail and hiking fitness will help you get the most out of it.

Day 1

Welcome to the Blue Mountains & Shakeout Run - 6km, 200m+

Arrive into Katoomba in the afternoon, with check-in at our hotel from 15:00. Once everyone has gathered and settled in, we'll meet the team and head straight out for a gentle 6km shakeout run with around 200m of climbing - the perfect way to shake off the travel and get a first feel for the mountains. Back to the hotel to shower and change before a short walk into town for our first dinner together, a relaxed evening to meet the group and ease into the days ahead.

Day 2

Start of the Six Foot Track - 29km, 750m+

An early start today. After breakfast we'll leave our main luggage at the hotel - for the next three days you'll carry only what you need - and transfer by minibus to the start of the Six Foot Track. From there we set off on foot, following this historic trail deep into the bush and down through the valleys, covering 29km with around 750m of climbing to reach our eco lodge for the night, roughly halfway along the track. The lodge is simple and comfortable, with wooden bunk beds, cosy cabins, and a wood fire for colder evenings. Dinner is a shared meal around the table, and an early night before a big day tomorrow.

Day 3

Six Foot Track to Wentworth Falls - 23km, 1000m+

Today is a big day, so we're up early. We'll finish the remainder of the Six Foot Track before joining the spectacular Prince Henry Cliff Walk, which traces the escarpment past many of the area's most important landmarks and lookouts. The trail eventually drops down into the town of Leura, where a short 10-minute bus connects us to Wentworth Falls and our accommodation for the night. 23km with around 1,000m of climbing - a proper mountain day. Dinner tonight is out in town, with time to relax and recover afterwards.

Day 4

The Mount Solitary Ultra Route - 25km, 1160m+

Today we start with a gorgeous breakfast overlooking the valley before taking on part of the iconic Mount Solitary Ultra route. Fast downhill fire trails and steady paths, challenging uphill sections, stairs, rolling trails, creek and river crossings, rock scrambling, and diverse flora throughout. It's 25km with 1,160m of climbing - you'll be tested, but rewarded with stunning views the whole way. We finish back in Katoomba at the same hotel as our first night, where your main luggage will be waiting. Dinner together in town to celebrate our big day on the trails.

Day 5

Final Shakeout Run & Goodbyes - 12km, 500m+

Our final morning. After breakfast we'll head out for one last run together, a 12km shakeout with around 500m of climbing - a soft and scenic way to round off the trip. Back into town for a relaxed lunch as a group before we say our goodbyes. The trip officially ends at 14:00, leaving you free to explore more of the Blue Mountains or make your way onward.
